The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is one of the most well-established Universities in Hong Kong which ranked 66th in the QS World University Rankings in 2021-2022. The University was looking for a refreshing and clear website revamp for admission purposes, through effectively consolidating and presenting useful information on the website for students and the general public.
APPROACH OF PROJECT
Stylish yet user-friendly website design
With reference to PolyU’s brand guideline, we have presented multiple color themes and UI designs for discussion. The team has paid effort to strike a balance between design appearance and practicality with clear distinguishment on titles, font size, element spacing and user flow etc which allow users access to the information they need quickly.
Frontend-focus revamp to allow flexibility to internal parties
As there are various stakeholders involved in the procedures of content input flow, the team focused on frontend revamp which did not alter existing content input flow and was able to maintain system integrity and consistency. Meanwhile, we have adopted several strategies to help the client to solve their long-term user-experience problems such as organized information display and long scrolling by using floating sticky quick access and section anchors shortcut functions.
RESULT
Satisfying revamped website design
Under a tight project timeline, we have migrated over 200 content pages with stylish and consistent website design. Both the client, students and related staff are satisfied with the new website design as they found it much clearer and user-friendly than before. Furthermore, internal staff are able to input useful information with sufficient web components which makes the website become more comprehensive and appealing.
